Allegheny River Valley Trail

August 24, 2014:  This blog page will document photos taken on the Allegheny River Valley Trail since our arrival at the end of July 2014.

The Allegheny River Valley Trail meanders through a forested route for three miles along the Allegheny River, through the towns of Allegany and Olean, NY and the St. Bonaventure University campus.  This trail is unique because it connects the communities of Olean and Allegany, allowing users to travel six miles round trip without crossing a street.  The other option is to complete the loop and pass through residential, commercial and industrial areas.  A unique feature of the trail is that, although almost 50% of it is on abandoned rail yards, it is a  complete loop.

We especially love the 3 mile forested trail along the Allegheny River, where we can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. 


                          Many areas along the first three miles of the trail look like this:

 The highlight of our walks so far was when two fawns crossed our path, and stopped to pose for several moments! I was able to capture one of them!

River Reflections

 Several mornings have been very foggy

We started off walking and then dusted off our bikes!

So far we've been doing 3.0,  3.5 and today...4.0 miles walking!

and 6.5 miles biking!
