Our October Trip Through Quebec: Day 2

October 2, 2011 ~ Day 2:   We had a pretty good free breakfast at our motel, and decided to do a little sight-seeing in the area before continuing on to Montreal.  It's still raining on and off, but we managed to enjoy the morning and get some photos.

First stop at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, where we saw fresh donuts being made, and bought fresh cider and fudge:

Low clouds!

Old vehicles

Next stop - Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory!  We took the tour and got free samples!  One of Bob's favorite stops!!!

We found our first of many covered bridges:

And covered walkways across rivers! (Stowe)

Smuggler's Notch (near Stowe)

Horses in the [continuing] rain not far from the Canadian border.

We made it to Montreal in good time, but I have no photos approaching Montreal, due to heavy rain the whole trip from the border. We found our hotel, a cute little place called Hotel St-Denis, in the University section (UQAM), and settled in...and still the rain continued.

The rain was heavy enough to discourage us from sightseeing, so instead we found a cute little restaurant right next time and had a great early dinner...including some of the best fries I've ever had:

End of Day 2! We went to bed hoping the rain stops so we can explore Montreal, but the forecast does NOT look promising!!
