Montreal in Winter (Heather & Shane's Wedding)

February 12-16, 2015:  It's Shane & Heather's Wedding Weekend...a destination wedding in Montreal in winter.  Here is a photo journal of our trip:

Thursday, February 12: The day started off beautifully, but the weather deteriorated by the time we got to the Finger Lakes.
 Wine Country, Finger Lakes Region
Frozen Vineyard, Canandaigua Lake
And got worse!
Whiteout Conditions between Syracuse and Watertown, NY

We arrived in Montreal at 5:00PM and were in bumper-to-bumper traffic for about an hour, until we finally got to our hotel, the beautiful Le Place d'Armes in Old Montreal, with it's cozy and charming room.  But we made it, and apparently were the first ones from the family to arrive.  Since no one else was around and we were hungry, we ventured out into the cold and snowy night to find food!
And found a cute, cozy place with good food,

Friday, February 13:  a "free day", we had booked RainSpa reservations in advance and enjoyed some early afternoon foot reflexology and time in the Hammam (middle eastern steam bath).  Afterwards we had drinks in the hotel restaurant/lounge, with Shane, Heather & Rhett and some of their friends, then took a walk down the street for cupcakes and ice cream at Les Glaceurs, a place we had discovered on our last trip here. We also went to Basilica Notre Dame again; it was just as beautiful inside as I remembered, and I was able to get some nice outdoor night shots as well. We then had a light dinner at Suite 701 and retired for the night.

Saturday, February 14:  The Teich family arrived late last night, and we met them for breakfast in Suite 701 in the morning.  Then at 1:00PM we all converged on Le Chat Noir Chez Pizzedelic Bistrot for a festive family brunch.  Afterwards, some family and friends went ice skating at the Old Port, but it was too cold for us, so we returned to Les Glaceurs for a Valentine Treat, before returning to the hotel for the night.

Sunday, February 15:  Wedding Day!  After breakfast in Suite 701, we returned to our room to start getting ready for the wedding.  About 1:30PM, I joined a few women in Heather's suite where she was having her hair and makeup done, and Bob joined some of the men in Shane's suite for whiskey and cigars.  By 3:30PM we walked to the wedding site at Le Auberge San Gabriel, a unique and charming old Inn, for the Ketubah Signing, then the Wedding and Reception.  It was a beautiful and memorable occasion!
